Current Updates on GBA In-House and Travel Programs

Dear GBA Members:

Thank you for your commitment and patience during the last several months. With the guidance from the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity regarding the Restore Illinois plan, we are focused on getting players back on the field to play baseball. Additionally, we have partnered with the Geneva Park District to ensure our practice guidelines (available here) are followed as we continue to get our leagues back to play. Please remember that our # 1 priority is the health and safety of our players.

Below is an update of our programs:

GBA In-House/IHTT/STA

Traditionally, GBA has a Spring Season and a Fall Season. Given the current state of events, the GBA Board along with discussions with STC baseball and Batavia Baseball will have one in-house season that will start July 13th through the end of September (Rookie to Pony). Thus, we have opened up registration through June 30th with the plans to draft teams in early July.

If you have already registered, we will carry your registration forward. If your plans have changed, we will offer a refund (minus a $25 admin fee), credit toward the 2021 season, or donation to GBA. GBA is a non-profit organization (501c3) that is supported by all volunteers. Our goal is to invest into our program to provide the best baseball experience possible in the Geneva community. Please refer to this link, and if you could please complete by Monday, June 15 it would be appreciated. If you have any questions, please reach out to Amy McMillen at registration@genevabaseball.com.

From now until the start of the season, the GBA Board will look to provide some programs such as clinics, Zoom clinics, etc. More to come over the next few weeks!

Since IHTT teams have already been formed and started practicing during the winter, they are starting practice in June and will play tournaments in July. This is consistent with other organizations in the area. All players participating in IHTT are required to play in our in-house program so their registration will carry forward.

We are working with Elite Sports Training Center to finalize the Spring Training Academy. Once we have a plan, we will reach out to all members who were signed up.

There will be a summer Colt season that serves our high school players looking to get out and play some ball. The season will be from mid-June through July. We will be sending another e-mail blast for Colt registration.

GBA Travel

GBA Travel teams started practicing as of June 2nd and we are looking to start playing games when Illinois shifts into Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan. There are still a lot of questions as to how this will work, and we will have more information over the next couple of weeks. Also, we will be rescheduling GBA’s 2021 travel tryouts - more information to come on that as well.

Thanks again for your commitment to GBA. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Ted Homewood, commissioner@genevabaseball.com.
